Ecclesiastical bibs and bobs

• PC code words in liberal churches. Marginalising versus full inclusion: Christopher Johnson and I are not on the same page — he’s Protestant, pro-Israel and anti-Ron Paul, and why on earth does he complain so much about a church he says he’s left? — but his mama didn’t raise a fool. A handy little term, this [‘marginalise’]. If you point out that my consumption of three bottles of cheap vodka a day probably means that I have a serious drinking problem, I can condemn you for marginalizing me. And if you’re uncomfortable with the fact that I enjoy spanking your wife on a regular basis, I can rebuke you for marginalizing the Adulterous-American community. But you and I both know that “marginalize” refers to one sin. And only one.
• Rome on the local level isn’t perfect. Or: ‘Full inclusion! We didn’t mean you.’ The liberals in charge in England don’t like traditionalists but the latter are still small enough that one can get away with dissing them. But when they pick on the immigrant group that’s keeping their churches open... ?
• Neither are the Orthodox. Just rediscovered Fr Gregory Jensen’s blog through Christopher Orr and I like it. Not your ordinary online Orthodox. I think similar blogger Owen White also noted that the retention rate for their converts is less than 50 per cent. More.
