I appreciate the point that it’s theft but unlike many in my corner of the right (some of whom take human biodiversity and go the racist loser route with it, blaming non-Asian minorities for their problems... race is only one factor in a person so to base policy right or left on it is immoral) I favour open borders. Obviously you can’t have that and socialised medicine for all. Basic economics: limited resources, unlimited wants and somebody’s got to pay for it.
• Obama has thrown around the name of God even more often than George W. Bush. A smart man, this élite agnostic has learnt something both from the black community he’s always wanted to belong to and the mainline Protestants he’s long been affiliated with: how to preach. Like the similarly unbelieving Lincoln with the Gettysburg Address he knows how to use the rhetoric of the Bible. I welcome an atheist libertarian like the writer not the Protestant left.
