• Was the Cold War a fraud? As Sting sang over 20 years ago the Russians loved their children too (and having got to know the Russians since I know that’s true and am glad they weren’t incinerated like two Japanese cities were) and the U.S. federal government today seems to exist purely for its own aggrandizement. The Cold War was when you had putative conservatives like CIA shill Bill Buckley arguing to sovietise the country for the duration in order to defeat the Reds.
