From RR
- US pols max out.
- Bad cops: the murder of José Guereña. Dona ei requiem.
- A war-on-Christmas story in May. How EU officials just forgot about Christmas. Trying to erase Catholic Europe, or a reason the Protestant US entered WWI.
- With the death of Osama bin Laden, there is a perfect opportunity for the Obama administration to bring to an end the decade-long “war on terror” by withdrawing from Afghanistan and closing the prison at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba. A problem that has plagued the “war on terror” from the beginning, and that should now be coming to an end, rather than being indefinitely sustained: the confusion of the Taliban, fighting a military conflict in Afghanistan (and in the Pashtun parts of Pakistan) with al-Qaeda, a terrorist organization.
- We still don’t know the real story about how Osama bin Laden was killed. Our government does not know how to tell the truth.
- Bloggers’ misconceptions about the free market.
- The case for Gary Johnson. The writer accuses Lew Rockwell of lying about Johnson to promote Paul. Personal loyalty is natural and good but Johnson may well be the younger bona-fide libertarian to go for the presidency while Paul keeps doing good in Congress.
- Paul’s significance.
- Did you ever see a movie (or better, the real thing) of a big Italian family around a dinner table, talking and laughing while “Mama” passed big plates of pasta and “Papa” poured the wine? Mealtime was historically geared to enjoyment and relaxation, conversation and sharing each other’s lives. And, of course, the same is true in many other places and cultures. Families like that don’t have nearly the heart and other health problems so common today in America.
