On 9/11 a cardinal consoled a city
The submitter writes:
Rod Dreher (and some others) may owe an apology to Cardinal Egan for their personal attacks on him after 9/11. I didn’t realize that Cardinal Egan had done all the things he had done in the aftermath of 9/11 according to this interview – that is, being a good pastor and priest.
I’ve heard Fr Rutler tell his battlefield-absolution story: on the street, blessing a truckload of firemen who went into the towers and didn’t come out.
