From LRC
  • RIP Steve Jobs. The greatest entrepreneur of our age has passed away, and we are poorer for it. Even though the company is swipplish and I don’t use any of its products now. But I learned how to use modern computers with them so thanks.
  • A Pew Research Center poll of Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans finds that “about half (51 percent) of post-9/11 veterans say that the use of military force to fight terrorism creates hatred that breeds more terrorism.” Amen.
  • Palin’s out. Good. Let’s see if any of her followers will go for the real thing.
  • Obama’s grab to control churches and their theological content. Of course. The swipples hate real Catholics and evangelicals.
  • Why rationalism is unreasonable. Once upon a time, the nature of the intellect was understood (by Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Aquinas, et al.) to seek the truth, that unchanging reality that is true for all of us (thus, a “common truth” that guides the “common good”). Alas, the Enlightenment severed the intellect from natural law, or from any grounding in an unchanging truth. So today’s “rationalist” is really a relativist.
  • Obama is Jesus?! I could find nothing in the “God’s Politics” blog that condemned Obama’s recent assassination order. WWJD? Whatever Eric Holder tells him is legal to do.
