Brideshead eviscerated
I’ve not seen it yet but might in six months through Netflix just to compare. The consensus of those who know: read the book and see the 1981 miniseries (I’ve done both); this one’s not the real thing. Now Sebastian’s a practising gay sort of martyr and everything’s the church’s fault. How original. What exactly is cool about ruining Waugh’s work to stab the church? Like the Whapsters said ‘edgy’ and ‘iconoclastic’ mean not going against modern received opinion in any way whilst making fun of whoever’s not in the room.

More.
