Two from Facebook
Not only have it and blogging replaced message boards as a venue for deep conversations as I’ve been in with Arturo, BJA and others there, but the Revds Jane and Tripp have sent me some fun stuff as well

• From Jane, ROLcats: a Russian site much like LOLcats with adorable moggies and a few other animals but simply with sweet, gently funny captions (‘In the world there’s one extraordinary child and each of their mothers knows it’) has been picked up by somebody writing his own English ‘translations’ in tongue-in-cheek Russian/Cold War style (clunky and deadly serious).
• From Tripp, why Facebook is for old fogies. Of course I thought of you.

The Russian above (I got the gist but used a dictionary for only three words):

Cat: When I was young I was very like you: small, impudent, gluttonous.
Hamster: I hope you’ve changed for the better.

Was turned into:

Cat: My spirit is being crushed within the machinery of industrial society.
Hamster: Your failing is lack of hard work and diligence.
