An ex-Anglican RC on the mainline-Protestant meltdown
With this headline all the potential biases are out in the open. Historically true but to balance it out here are some of my and Paul’s answers to such chest-thumping.

An e-mail circle member adds:
Anglicanism — centuries before the current unpleasantness — is too much of an outlier to be of much use in proving Dr Mills’s point. From the get-go the principle of unity in Anglicanism was political and social rather than doctrinal; the seeds of the “meltdown” were sown in the Elizabethan Settlement.
