How many of your tax dollars go to Israel?
The capital of the US is not Tel Aviv.
— Russell Kirk
Have you ever wondered how much your state or county provides in military aid to Israel? Have you ever asked yourself how those tax dollars could be used instead in your community to fund unmet social needs?
Obviously this is from a leftist group. What really meets most people’s social needs? The market, , local socialism like a hippy commune, no.
We were curious as well, which is why we are excited to launch today “How Much Aid to Israel?” — a new project of the US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation.

We were encouraged to hear President Obama say in his State of the Union address:
“We will continue to go through the budget line by line to eliminate programs that we can’t afford and don’t work.”
But he pledged his support for Israel right after snagging the nomination and of course politicians never mean it when they say they’re slashing the budget.
We agree with this sentiment. From both a moral and financial perspective, we can’t afford military aid to Israel, which is why we were so disappointed to learn last week that President Obama included a record $3 billion in military aid to Israel in his FY2011 budget request to Congress.
Some of us were paying attention a year ago and weren’t shocked, I say, shocked.
Today we launch “How Much Military Aid to Israel?” as part of our ongoing campaign to challenge military aid to Israel. Our new website shows that military aid to Israel comes at a price that we can’t afford.

Check out our new website, www.aidtoisrael.org, to:
  • Find out how much money your state and county will be providing in military aid to Israel between FY2009-2018 (we’ll also be launching data for your Congressional district and city soon) by clicking here.
  • Learn more about the devastating impact that Israel’s misuse of U.S. weapons has on innocent Palestinian civilians who live under Israel’s illegal 42-year military occupation of the Palestinian West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza Strip by clicking here.
  • Take action by sending your members of Congress a letter opposing military aid to Israel and sign up for an organizing package to organize opposition to military aid to Israel in your community by clicking here.
  • Help us spread the word and make this campaign go viral by telling a friend, joining our Facebook groups, and embedding videos and graphics on your website or blog by clicking here.
  • Last, but not least, “offset” the estimated average of $19.19 that you’ll be paying in taxes this year for weapons for Israel by making a tax-deductible contribution of the same amount to the US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation by clicking here.
All righty then!
