Tolerant conservatism, Latino style
The church: we’re family. I’ve seen it in a couple of traditional Catholic families with unwed mothers: quiet mercy not drama. (Beats what the WASPs did and do, going off to a dodgy doctor to have their daughter’s little problem taken care of. I know the old neighbourhood did it too — Frank Sinatra’s mother did them, God have mercy on her — but I’m talking about devout people the secularists accuse of being monsters.) Joshua made the same observation about traditional Vietnamese Buddhist families. What tolerant conservatism means. From Arturo.
