Restructuring the Marine Corps
Comment thread. ISTM that if the US returns to being a peaceful non-interventionist country (after a long lapse), it doesn’t need a second land army, nor should one fall into the trap mentioned of training for the last big war (like some say the US Navy with its carrier task forces keeps refighting WWII in the Pacific in its minds). I think the last big amphibious assault was Inchon more than 60 years ago. A small, nimble shipboard force to use when you have to? Sounds good to me.
