Rooted radicals
They were, paradoxically, profoundly conservative.
Good point; the smidge of truth in the counterculture. A point Joshua made in his old blog: that if the early New Left (libertarian-friendly Carl Oglesby) and the rednecks sat down and talked, it could have prevented the ’60s disaster. But... the counterculture at least over here where it mattered (lots of boomer kids, in America at its height) wasn’t about principle so much as spoiled kids looking for a good time, and there are plenty of people who hate things I stand for but love vintage things and old-timey music in their own way (sort of like the mocking, fake nostalgia of ‘Prairie Home Companion’).
